Crkvice Bay
Crkvice Bay
Crkvice Bay is one of those hidden Pelješac coves that still feels untouched and wonderfully wild. Surrounded by steep hills, pine trees, and crystal-clear sea, it is a favourite among locals looking to escape the crowds and spend the day somewhere quieter and more authentic.
Part of the adventure is the journey itself. The road down to Crkvice is narrow, steep, and winding — definitely an experience for confident drivers — but the views along the way are spectacular. Every turn opens up another panorama of the sea, stone landscapes, and untouched nature.
At the bottom of the bay you’ll find a small pebble beach, old stone houses, and a peaceful atmosphere that feels far removed from modern tourism. Nearby are the remains of the summer residence of Mato Celestin Medović and the small Church of St. Rocco, adding another layer of history to this secluded spot.
Crkvice is also known for a local summer tradition — children jumping from the old pier into the sea, something generations on Pelješac grew up doing. It’s the kind of place where people spend hours swimming, grilling fish, and doing absolutely nothing in the best possible way.
